Party spaces at Ferry Meadows
Nene Park Trust hires out rooms at Ferry Meadows. The Lakeside Hub is listed for children's parties, and The Sett is described as well suited to birthday celebrations, with its own secure outdoor area and picnic benches. The trust's visitor services team handles bookings and can tell you what each room includes.
That combination is handy. The kids can run about outside, then come in for the show when they need to sit down and cool off.
Ring the park team early for summer weekends. Those rooms are popular.
A plan for unpredictable weather
If you're hoping for an outdoor party, have a dry room as backup. Wind is the real enemy for balloons and props, more than rain. A gazebo helps more than you'd think.
Let the entertainer know your plan in advance. Most are happy to move inside at short notice as long as there's a clear space and somewhere to plug in the music.
Sun can be a problem too. Children squinting into the light won't enjoy the show, so position the audience with their backs to the sun if you can. Your entertainer will usually sort this out on arrival.
Church halls and local rooms
Stanground Parish Church Hall on Mace Road is hired by the hour, has off-road parking and actively invites birthday party bookings. Halls like this are often cheaper than big commercial venues and give you room for a full show.
Orton, Werrington and Hampton all have their own halls too. Ask around at the school gate, because other parents usually know which ones are friendly to kids' parties and which ones fuss about glitter.
A party at home works well for smaller numbers too. Clear the coffee table, line up some cushions and you're halfway there.

If you're not sure yet what you need, our children's entertainer page explains what a typical party includes, and the kids party ideas post has plenty more to chew on. It covers everything from games to party food in plain English.
Booking for a club, nursery or school rather than a birthday works too. Just let us know on the form who the audience is.
