When the venue doesn't run the party
Brown's Field Community Centre in East Chesterton has a soft-play area you can hire for parties, and its Sunshine Hall seats around fifty. The rooms are yours, but the running of the party is down to you.
That's where an entertainer helps. While the children watch a show or play games, you can get the food out and actually say hello to the other parents.
Rooms in the evening or at weekends are booked by arrangement there, so get in touch with the centre early if you're aiming for a Saturday. Weekday hours suit toddler parties nicely.
Leisure centre packages
Cherry Hinton Village Leisure Centre offers a bouncy castle party for children up to ten, with an hour on the castle and an hour in a party room with a kitchen. There's a cap of twenty children.
If the guest list is bigger, or you'd like something calmer, a hall party with an entertainer gives you more flexibility. You set the numbers and the timings.
Numbers matter a lot when choosing. Cambridge class sizes can mean an invite list of thirty, and a capped package soon fills up.
What a kids party magician in Cambridge usually does
Expect magic with lots of volunteers, party games and music. Most entertainers we work with build in a break for food, and many can add balloon modelling at the end. Children love seeing their own name or age turn up in a trick, and the best entertainers will work that in.
There's usually a special moment for the birthday child too. Tell us if they're shy and the entertainer will keep it gentle.
Most shows also include a few games that work in a small space, which helps in rooms where running around isn't an option. Musical statues has saved many a rainy afternoon.
