Questions parents ask
How do I book a children's entertainer through you?
Fill in the quote form with your date, location and a bit about the party. A real person will reply, usually the same day, with who's free and a price. If you're happy, we book it in.
Is there any obligation when I ask for a quote?
None at all. Nothing's booked until you say yes.
How much does a children's party entertainer cost?
A children's party show typically costs £250 to £450. Your quote depends on the date, how long you'd like, where the party is and what's included. Longer bookings, extras, weekends, busy dates and travel can all push it up.
How far in advance should I book?
For a weekend, as far ahead as you can. Saturday afternoons and December dates go first. Weekday and after-school parties are usually easier to arrange at short notice.
What's the difference between a kids magician and a children's entertainer?
A kids party magician is mainly about the magic show. A children's entertainer usually runs the whole party, with games, music and a show. Lots of people do both, and we'll tell you exactly what each quote includes.
What age are your entertainers suitable for?
We find entertainers for all ages, from first birthdays to tweens. The show changes a lot with age, so tell us how old the birthday child is and roughly how old the guests are.
How much space does an entertainer need?
Usually a clear area at one end of the room for the entertainer, plus floor space for the children to sit in front. A living room is fine for a smaller group. Running games need more room, so for a big group a hall is better.
Can the party be at home?
Yes. Lots of parties are at home. Move the coffee table, put the presents somewhere out of sight, and you're most of the way there.
How long does a party entertainer stay?
It depends what you book. A magic show on its own is shorter, while a full party with games and a food break is often around two hours. Tell us your timings and we'll quote for them.
When should we have the food?
With a two-hour party, food usually goes in the middle. Games first, then food, then the magic show while everyone's sitting down. For toddlers, food at the end often works better.
Are your entertainers DBS checked and insured?
These are good questions to ask about any children's entertainer. Ask us when you book and we'll confirm the details for your booking.
Can you do balloon modelling?
Many of our entertainers can. It usually adds to the price because of the extra time. If any child has a latex allergy, please tell us first. See our balloon modelling page.
My child is shy. Will they be made to go up on stage?
No. Mention it when you book and the entertainer will give them a role they're comfortable with, or leave them to enjoy it from their seat.
Can parents stay and watch?
Of course. With younger children it's a good idea. We'd just ask that the grown-ups keep their chatting to the back so the children can hear.
Do you do school, nursery and Christmas parties?
Yes. Daytime weekday bookings are often easier to arrange than weekends. For December, ask early. Our Christmas party entertainer page has more.
Can you do a themed party?
Often, yes. Tell us what your child's into and we'll check what the entertainer can do.
Which areas do you cover?
The whole of the UK. Add your town or postcode to the form and we'll look for someone near you.
Who runs Party Magicians?
We're run by Fine Entertainments Ltd, a magic and entertainment agency based in Corby, Northamptonshire.
